Summer Camp

The most exciting news deserves to be said first: we announced time and place for Summer Camp 2016! There is plenty of time to prepare for another eZ & PHP summer and to plan your vacation accordingly :)

Conferences & Meetups

We wanted to celebrate Symfony’s 10th birthday appropriately, so attracted by promises of interesting talks 6 of us went to Symfony’s birthplace, wonderful Paris, for the 3rd edition of SymfonyCon, which was held on December 3-5. Tomislav wrote down some thoughts on the venue, the talks, the entertainment, and the overall experience.

Encouraged by the success and an excellent atmosphere of the last year’s gathering with partners, we organized Netgen Winter Meetup on December 11 and we are seriously thinking of making it an annual thing. We reassessed the shared work with our partners and discussed the direction in which we are going as well as hung out into the night in a remarkable company :)

Maja went to Osijek for #DigitalnaKarijera, a mini-conference held at the Faculty of Economics. The interesting talks and a panel discussion are all available on YouTube (in Croatian). One of the main discussions was based around the term digital - check it out!

Soon after the mini-conference, Maja attended the Internet Marketing Meetup in Zagreb, Christmas edition, in the informal and festive setting.

Ivo and Vjeran went to the one-day conference #IzSveSnage organized by Five, an NYC-based digital agency, where they discussed design, development, and project leadership. The lecturers came from prominent businesses, such as USA Today and Squarespace.

Sites launched

After a long-term focused work, we redesigned the website for Croatian Summer Salsa Festival, which is organized by our Summer Camp co-organizers Salsa Adria Productions. It was a second complete redesign of the website since 2005.

Community

As our holiday present, we prepared a batch of Summer Camp videos for you! You can look through them on our YouTube channel and help yourself to all the info on the workshops, setting up developer environment and repos.

Since we are still using eZ Publish Community 2014.11 in our current projects, Edi introduced a Netgen variant of that kernel version. He explains the why and the how and calls for your contributions.

Mario B., knowing how much you dislike testing, walks you through an automated testing system called Behat, making it easier for you to sleep at night :)

Seeing how developing web solutions that include the CMS is a multidisciplinary and complex process, Ivo tackled the issue in a 2-part article for Netokracija, Croatian media brand dedicated to digital business and technology. The first part covered the process as it used to be and what is it like now while in the second part he proposed ways to improve and speed up the process.

The eZ Publish Show Christmas Special was aired on December 22. Special guest was Roland Benedetti, Chief Product Officer of eZ System who talked to Ivo about eZ Platform and eZ Studio and the eZ roadmap for 2016.

Thanks to Ivo and the idea from Tyler Harms, eZ Community Slack now has an archive! The archive is available on ezcommunity.slackarchive.io.

Edi released EzFormsBundle 1.2.0 with great contribution from Mario B. Kudos!

Extras

As it is tradition, Santa visited us and the Netgen youth this year as well, marking a notable start of our holiday season :)

Also, it is important to mention the releases of the new version of our favorite CMS - eZ Platform and the enterprise version eZ Studio - and our favorite programming language - PHP 7. We know we will enjoy them!
